NEW PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT RIGHTS - A WELCOME ECONOMY BOOST


At IDEASE we believe the new Permitted Development Rights (PDR) coming into force on the 1st August 2020, is a welcome boost to both the construction and residential markets. The new legislation allows the construction of up to two additional storeys to existing, purpose built, detached apartment blocks.


We are certainly excited by the additional work opportunities envisaged through developers and housing authorities. Making the most of the new rights will bring much needed additional housing across the West Midlands.


We have been collaboratively reviewing the new legislation with our partners; investigating the restrictions around the prior approval process and looking at the most effective design and construction methods that can be utilised to build safe, compliant, quality schemes.
